The fourth event in the series of events held by the network covered the topic of Prevention. As with the previous three events, it was extremely well attended and delegates were enthusiastic in participating in the workshops.
Presentations were delivered by Dr Geraldine Strathdee O.B.E, Professor Max Birchwood, Dr Lola Abudu and Dr Paul Patterson. The presentations covered a range of areas relating to prevention.
There were some interesting discussions had during the latter part of the afternoon where several challenges were raised during the workshop sessions:
- Discussions around routine enquiry (ACEs), school based peer health champions and the potential appetite for Local Demonstrator Sites to test and prove the benefit of new, joined-up approaches.
- Personal care planning and the difficulties experienced.
- Better use of data, data sharing and digital tools, along with the issue of consent.
Delegates were encouraged to work with the network to develop these challenges for submission to the Meridian Health Innovation Exchange to engage wider support, and we would also like to hear from our network members to contribute to these challenges also, so please do not hesitate to get in touch.
